Swathe is a contemporary travel and storage company, specializing in luxury protection of department and specialty store finds. We create products for people that care about the items they purchase and want to make sure they are well protected during storage and travel.

In December 2010, I launched Swathe. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and have a degree in fashion related studies from the London College of Fashion. My journey has encompassed working as salesroom representative, magazine editor, and styling various film and print advertisements. Currently, I serve as a board member for the Chicago Fashion Foundation. These endeavors provided me with the foundation for creating a company for those that go to great lengths to find the perfect accessories and want to make sure they are protected for the next occasion, and fashionably made in Chicago of course.

Swathe uses a combination of quality 100% pure and organic cotton fabrics. We feel the proper fabrics allow the stored items to breathe and last longer. Plus, we only choose the best trims for our products. It important that Swathe stands out as a luxury company that cares about creating products that are not only eco-friendly, but functional. Our current line features a variety of products, such as the Handbag and Footwear covers that have a specially created see-through section for easy viewing. Most of our products can be monogrammed in a variety of colors for bridal party and gift giving.

Picture this, time is of the essence and there you are frantically searching for the OTHER SHOE! Well, this once happened to me so many times and I am certain that this scenario can be easily replayed in your bedroom. One day, while having a slight meltdown on my closet floor, surrounded by a mound of handbags and boxes of shoes; I discovered my need to be more organized; especially if I was ever to arrive anywhere on time! The next day I began my quest for the perfect storage solution, which included flexibility for tight spaces and versatility for travel. I visited various department and boutique stores, conduct searches on the web, and even asked my friends for recommendations. After months of looking, I could not find that “right” solution. I couldn’t possibly be the only woman, or person for that matter who needed to find a contemporary, yet functional way to store my belongings. And with that, Swathe was born.

During the creation of our summer collection, we began having MAJOR issues with our sewing contractor and some of the fabrics that we choose were being discontinued. So needless to say, we were a little on edge because we were so excited to debut our new products. However, we buckled down, worked things out with our contractor, and discovered new fabrics to get our collection out to our customers before the summer season!

Our greatest achievement is hearing that our customers enjoy our products and refer their friends to Swathe. All of the challenges are definitely worth the smiles on our customers faces.
